So big!

Sophie has just started to like sitting up. She will sit propped up on a couch or chair for at least a half-hour, just looking around and watching everything. In fact, sitting up is so exciting that when she is fussing and waiting for me to make her bottle, if I sit her up the fussing magically stops.
Sophie recently had her 2 month check up. At 10 weeks she is 22 inches long and 11 pounds. She is our big girl!

Trip to Portland!

Sophie survived her first flight when she visited Portland this past weekend. She actually did exceedingly well on all fights, she slept on the way there, and ate all the way home. Apparently, leaving Portland made this little lady very hungry. We had a great weekend, mainly visiting family. Here are some of our favorite pics:

Meeting GG (Great Grandma) for the first time. We also had lunch with GG at her retirement home. It was the first time that I was afraid that Sophie might be kidnapped. She was a hot item!

Meeting Aunt Booie and Clarie, we soon learned that little Claire is quite the ham and will pose for each picture. But I still prefer to think that she is happy to see us.

Spending quality time with Nana. As you can see, Nana is singing away. When she has a captive audience she cannot be stopped.
Meeting Aunt Kerry and Uncle Dick. Aunt Kerry became quite distracted by our little Sophie. here she is playing with Sophs while she is supposed to be getting ready for Uncle Dick's 50th high school reunion. Whoops, they were a little late!
We had a great time and look forward to going back!

Baby 'Fro

Our little Sophie has a baby fro. When her hair is dry, it has a slight wave. However, when her hair is wet, it is in tight ringlets. It will be interesting to see what it looks like when it is longer.

It's summer!

For the last several years over Memorial Day, the McDermott's have gotten ready for summer. This includes taking the boat out of storage and putting in the dock. Luckily, this year it was actually nice! The sun was out and the lake actually looked inviting. That is, if you forgot that the water was only 40 degrees. This did not stop Carl and his brothers from diving in and skiing. I, being in the possession of my brain, firmly believe that one should not ski until it is July and the lake has actually warmed.
