Meet Baby Cade!

Caden Erik McDermott surprised us by joining us 3 months earlier than expected. He was born March 22, at 2:14 pm weighing 2 pounds 15 oz and 14 3/4 inches long. Cade has proven to be a tough little guy, and is quite a trooper- putting up with IV's, tubes, and needle pokes without much fuss. Carl and I have been making trips to the hospital twice a day and are always excited to see him. He is now up to 3.3 pounds and doing very well.  We are anxious to take him home, but have been told that that will probably be around his original due date of 6/15/12.  We'll see- I have a feeling it will be closer to 5 weeks.

Cade on his ventilator.  He's now on oxygen through the nose probes, which he loves to pull out and annoy his nurses.

Cade's house.  This is where Cade spends the majority of his day. The nurses handle him as little as possible so that he does not burn calories being held.  We are able to hold him in the morning and at night.

I used the flash and scared him, but you can see him using his passie.  The nurses are trying to train him to use one during his feedings so that he equates sucking with getting fed.  As you can see, the passie looks huge, but it's actually quite small.

Cade's diaper as compared to my car key.  Keep in mind that we have to roll it down because it's too big.

We will keep the pictures coming!
