Hiking

We have taken a couple of hikes this summer. She is of course, an outdoors girl, so anything outside is wonderful. She also loves to sit in the hiking backpack and we think it’s funny to count how many times people comment on this- “Now, that’s the way to hike,” or “Do they make that in my size?” ect. So far the record is 15 comments.

We had Carl’s friends from college come visit us with their wives and families, (Dave and Sean) and we had a blast catching up and watching the kids play. We were able to enjoy a couple of hikes with them too. Carl is excited for Sophie to be able to hike by herself, as carrying 30 pounds on your back gets a little tiring. But for now, it was great to get out and hike as a family.

Sophie took off her socks and shoes to dip her toes in the water. By dip I mean wade out into the freezing glacier lake up to her shins.

So many rocks to jump off of, so little time.

Love my backpack and my daddy!

Berry Picking

Sophie loves to go berry picking. LOVES it. For the record, none of Sophie's berries ever end up in a bucket, she eats everything she finds. This is probably why we never end up with enough berries to make anything or enjoy later. We have had fun finding strawberries and huckleberries. Sophie thinks it’s great fun to forage through the forest-it does not bother her in the slightest to end up with scratches and covered in mosquito bites. As long as she is eating berries, she is a happy girl.
