Nana Visits

We have been very fortunate to have Nana here with us! Carl was out of town all last week, so Nana came to help! She is staying with us for almost two weeks, so by the time she leaves Sophie will be thoroughly spoiled. Sophie loves having Nana here with us, for many reasons:

*Nana always wears jewelery, which she lets Sophie wear

*Nana has snacks, which she lets Sophie share with her

*Nana is always ready to read or play any game

*Nana lets you play forbidden games like climb on the bed, or play in the pantry

*Nana will sing any song you like, over and over again

It's been great having Nana here with us, it will be very sad to see her go.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Sophie has been sick the last several days with a nasty cold and even worse cough, so our Valentine's Day was very low key. In honor of the big holiday, we decided that she should enjoy a piece of cake with us. This was a BIG deal, as Sophie does not get any sweets, and the last time she had cake was at her cousin's birthday in June. Even though she was out of practice, she tore into the cake with no hesitation. She did a great job eating her little slice and got cake all over her cheeks and in her hair. The best part about this- the late night snuggles when she still smelled like cake. Mmm... cake...

So pleased with her cake. She has some fisted in her hand for later.

Out With the Old, In With the New...

A couple of weeks ago I took Sophie's passie away. She still gets it when she sleeps, but during the day she does not get it any more. After several days of protesting, she stopped asking for it and I felt quite proud of myself. Alas, my almost 2 year old outsmarted me. She now sucks on her fingers- usually her pointer finger, sometimes her thumb. She sucks on them when watching Barney or when reading a story. Now I have to decide which is worse, thumb sucking or passie? At least you can take away a passie, but you have fingers where ever you go.
